Waistline Wednesday 14: Double Under’s

Jumping Rope is one of the easiest and most effective ways to increase your heart rate for cardiovascular workouts. Only a few minutes of jumping rope can burn a significant amount of calories. For example, a 150 lb person jumping rope at a jump per second (60 per min) for 10 minutes will burn a little over 100 calories. A 200 lb person jumping rope at around 2 jumps per second (120 per min) for 15 minutes will burn somewhere around 300 calories. Pretty intriguing! 

A jump rope is also inexpensive. You can get a good jump rope on Amazon for under $10.

One of the best things about a jump rope is the versatility. You can use it almost anywhere. It's so small you can fit it in your purse. I'm not a huge fan of cardiovascular exercise because it seems so time consuming and boring. With a jump rope I can get a quick butt kick in without taking up too much time. A win win.

Double Unders are a great way to maximize your jump rope experience and get more out of your jump rope workout. It's more explosive and requires a higher jump and faster turn. These things add up to more calories burned in less time. Be careful not to hit yourself with the rope, it doesn't feel good.
